Desert-Ready Systems

Sonoran Desert concrete endures extreme surface heat, direct UV exposure, and monsoon moisture. We select epoxy or polyaspartic builds for the slab's location and intended traffic instead of treating the coating like ordinary paint.

Verified Surface Preparation

Mechanical diamond grinding or shot-blasting opens the concrete pore structure to an ICRI CSP-3 profile. Moisture testing is used where slab-on-grade conditions warrant it, and ASTM D4541 pull-off testing confirms bond strength before the coating goes down.

Coatings Matched to Exposure

We choose coating chemistry and thickness around each exposure: UV-stable polyaspartic topcoats for sun, slip-resistant aggregate for wet areas, and thicker broadcast or trowel-down systems for demanding commercial and industrial floors. Warehouse systems sometimes exceed 30 mils where forklift traffic, pallet jacks, and point loads require it. With proper surface preparation and a UV-stable topcoat, a concrete coating system typically lasts 10 to 20 years indoors and 8 to 15 years in UV-exposed outdoor applications, depending on traffic and maintenance.

Repair Before Coating

Cracks are filled with semi-rigid epoxy, spalled areas are patched with polymer-modified overlays, and the slab is ground to a uniform CSP profile before coating. A typical residential garage installation runs two days, while some smaller garages can use one-day options when slab conditions allow. Roughly a third of premature coating failures we've been called to inspect trace back to inadequate surface preparation or moisture issues that were not addressed.
